Some Encouraging Results
Stories From the Sheep:
- Recently Chris who is homeless helped me separate and load clothes into two trucks, a trailer, and my SUV. Four of my friends from First Baptist Church of Killeen came over with their vehicle to carry clothes and food to the homeless. My friends wanted to stop for breakfast at McDonalds which we did. As we waited for our food Chris said I will be right back. I turned around and watched as he approached a homeless man outside and starting talking to him. Chris then took off one of his jackets and gave it to this man. (Most homeless in the winter dress in layers and often have multiple sweaters and coats on.) It didn’t surprise me because it has been my experience that many of the homeless are very caring and generous people.
- The best donations I received in January 2025 were from four homeless men. Two of them gave me $1.00, one man gave me $5.00 and another man gave me $10.00. It seems those that have the least give the most. Their giving reminded me of the story of the poor widow in Mark 12:41-44 who gave all the money she had to God; it was two small copper coins which were worth a penny.
- Recently my friend Stephany who lives in the Austin area invited me to come visit her. She has a friend who receives donations from businesses and then distributes them to nonprofits. We went to this warehouse and received many articles of clothing which included about 200 pair of women’s underwear still in the packages having never been opened. The friend told us these were from Wal-Mart and they would not sell them because they had a hole in the package. It seems women like to poke a hole in the underwear packages to feel the material. So, if you want to support my ministry just go to an Austin Wal-Mart and poke holes in packages of women’s underwear and they will end up on the streets of Bell County. Just kidding about the hole poking.
- In January I went over to Temple Christian Outreach to see if they would make me a deal on like new clothing. They are great people; I was on the board and volunteered at their food bank and thrift store in the past. They gave me two large grocery baskets full of clothes which came out to 88 pairs of blue jeans, 25 shirts, 8 coats, 20 blankets along with belts and other miscellaneous clothing. All they asked from me was to donate to them which I did. If you live in Temple go see these folks, they have super deals and minister to the poor and homeless. Thanks Catilin.
- One of my friends at First Baptist Church works at a dry cleaner and she has brought me three loads of clothing in her large SUV that people had paid for and never picked up. I stopped by two other Dry Cleaners and they also donated clothing. I need someone to visit the 60 or so Dry Cleaners in our area. If you would like to do that, call me and I will give you some brochures and a list of these businesses.
- Recently Billy, one of my homeless friends I have been bringing to church, was able to get an apartment thru Killeen Housing Authority, but he had nothing to put into it. Casey Cochran’s class at First Baptist Church Killeen took up donations and was able to furnish his entire apartment for him. Good job guys.
- In January, First Baptist Church of Killeen took part in Clothing God’s Sheep campaign which resulted in 40 tubs of clothing, blankets, shoes and jackets for the homeless. You guys are amazing.
- First Baptist Church of Killen Men’s Group made up and handed out over 100 gallon bags of food and hygiene items to the poor. Great job guys, we will be doing this again soon.
- The Lord has richly blessed Feeding God’s Sheep with clothing, food items, and volunteers. But we still need a grant writer, a salesman, an accountant, and a marketing person. If you would like to be part of the team, give me a call. We are also starting a campaign with Killeen Daily Herald to raise funds and promote our ministry. Starting January 25 and continuing for 30 days we will have a quarter page ad hopefully on page A3. In February 2026 the Herald will put out a magazine to all readers and at HEB’s and Wal-Marts in the area. This will be replenished for one year and it highlights new business and ministries like Feeding God’s Sheep. The cost of this marketing campaign is $1900. If God puts this on your heart to support Feeding God’s Sheep, you can donate through our website. Thank you in advance.
